Inglourious References Guide
- The name Aldo Raine is a homage to one of QTs favorite actors: Aldo Ray. Ray starred in both Hollywood studio films and classic exploitation films. The last name "Raine" is a homage to the character Major Charles Rane from one of QTs favorite revenge films Rolling Thunder.
- The character Hugo Stiglitz is a homage to the German-Mexican real actor of the same name.
- The character Ed Fenech is named for Euro-exploitation actress Edwige Fenech.
- Character Madame Mimieux is most likely named after actress Yvette Mimieux, who in turn starred in Dark of the Sun, along with Rod Taylor. It was a "bunch of guys on a mission" movie and is a Quentin favorite. In another connection, Rod Taylor will be playing Winston Churchill in Inglourious Basterds.
- The title is a homage to the 1977 Italian war movie Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato aka Inglorious Bastards
- Other "men on a mission" World War II movies like The Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare, The Dirty Dozen, Five For Hell and Battle Squadron have had an impact on Tarantino. Especially the Italian-made ones, which, like the Spaghetti Westerns, have garnered their own pasta inspired nickname: Macaroni Combat films. They are some of Tarantino's favorites.

- "Zulus" a track from the movie Zulu Dawn appears in the film. That film was directed by Douglas Hickox. Michael Fassbender's character is named: Lt. Archie Hicox.
