Inglorious Bastards (1977)
We recommend checking out Enzo G. Castellari's 1977 "Macaroni Combat" classic Inglorious Bastards on DVD. It is a major inspiration for the film and one of Tarantino's longtime favorites (the US DVD release includes a Tarantino interview).
